Bangladesh’s Finance Minister AMA Muhith is set to leave for the US on Thursday, to attend the annual meetings of the Boards of Governors for the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He will also attend meetings with MIGA Executive Vice President and CEO Keiko Honda, Deputy Managing Director of IMF Mitsuhiro Furusawa, World Bank’s South Asia region Vice-President Annette Dixon and AIIB President Jin Luqun. Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir, Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam and Finance Division acting Secretary Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury will accompany the finance minister on the tour. Muhith is expected to return home on October 22. The meetings also feature seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world’s financial system.
