Khasru passed away at 1:00pm while undergoing treatment at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in the city. Zahidur Rahim Anjan, president of Bangladesh Short Film Forum confirmed the news to the media. He was one of the founders of Pakistan Chalachchitra Sangsad in 1963 and remained involved with film society movement till death. He inspired the formation of Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies and the National Film Archive.
