Director Burlat won Best Director for “Cuckoo,” a short film about a man’s descent into madness played by emerging actor in the lead role ‘Bidman’ Ron Macapagal who also was bestowed a certificate of Honorable Mention for his moving performance. (FDCP) for filmmakers who won awards abroad both in the creative and technical categories. Last year he won Best Director at the 16th We Care International Film Festival (WCIFF), New Delhi, India for “Ama Ka Ng Anak Mo” (Father of Your Son). This year Director Burlat is designated as the local festival director of said WCIFF to be held this September in Manila. This will coincide with the 1st Gawad Pilipinas Film Awards (GAPEFIL) 2020 as his partner for said event.
