FILBASKET has yet to begin its inaugural season, but founder and commissioner Jai Reyes said the new amateur basketball league is in for the long haul. Reyes said FilBasket will give opportunities to Filipino basketball players to showcase their talents and earn a living. The league and the teams have to make money so everybody can have their jobs if there's income," said Reyes. Reyes, however, stressed that FilBasket is not a professional basketball league. Before, you could just start any league anywhere, but right now, the priority is the safety of the players and the whole league," said Reyes.
