Fiji Hindi, also known as Fijian baat or Fijian Hindustani, is the language spoken by most Fijian citizens of Indian descent. The relation between Fiji Hindi and Standard Hindi is similar to the relation between say Dutch and Afrikaans. Inward migration of free Gujarati and Punjabi settlers further contributed to Fiji Hindi. And now I find it one of the most enjoyable experiences to converse in, and learn more of Fiji Hindi. The enjoyable journey of growing my understanding of Fiji, and of absolutely loving Fiji and its peoples, continues.
