A building consent authority such as the council has 20 working days from the date the application a building consent is received to decide whether to refuse or grant the application. A council spokeswoman said 125 building consent applications were lodged between November 1 and 27 this year. The average time it took to process each of the 100 building consent applications was 23 days. Exactly 213 building consent applications were lodged with it that month. Gore District Council building control manager Russell Paterson said it had four building control officers in-house, one compliance officer, one admin/technical assistant and one external building control processor, the same staffing level as a year ago.
