Currently, Chorus is installing the fibre network throughout Paeroa, with more than 1900 premises set to have the ability to connect to faster internet (file photo). The leap towards faster broadband has come at a cost for Hauraki District Council. So far, council has spent more than $27,000 to repair damage caused by the installation of fibre around the district. Group manager engineering services Adrian de Laborde answered that the costs stemmed from damage caused by fibre being installed throughout the district.
