On Thursday, just 1,869 crossed the border back to Myanmar, compared to between 4,500 and 6,000 a day earlier. The decrease is apparently related to the Thai government’s decision to grant a 180-day grace period from the tough penalties prescribed by the newly-introduced Executive Decree on Foreign Worker Management. After the decree prompted an exodus of migrant workers after it took effect on June 23.
