Richard Yu, chief executive of Huawei's consumer business group, said anyone at this stage in the decade-old industry's history that had less than 10% market share was losing money. Huawei is the world's third biggest smartphone maker, trailing leaders Samsung and Apple, with a 10.2% market share in the fourth quarter, according to market surveys from IDC and Strategy Analytics. "If your market share is less than 10% you cannot be profitable. It declined to launch a new flagship smartphone as it has done in the past at the Mobile World conference in Barcelona. Yu said Huawei will launch its first 5G-ready smartphone either in the third- or fourth-quarter, most likely in its Mate line of devices.
