Fevertree seeks tonic as Schweppes eyes reboot

Is Fevertree fizzling out? The premium tonic maker has become something of an Aim darling since its float on the junior market three years ago. Shares in the company peaked at £24.85 in September after it triggered a rally by stating that trading would be “materially ahead” of expectations across the year. RBC Capital Markets hit Fevertree with a rare downgrade yesterday, lowering its rating from “outperform” to “sector perform” as Schweppes, one of its biggest rivals, attempts to reboot. It “doesn’t bode well” for Fevertree, RBC advised clients, with Coca-Cola, operator of the Schweppes brand in Britain, reportedly investing up to £10 million in the relaunch.
