Hat Yai mayor Narongporn Na Phatthalung joined TAT officials and provincial leaders in presiding over the festivities. TAT said Hat Yai has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors over the New Year period, generating at least 300 million baht in tourism revenue. Narongporn said the strong numbers highlighted Hat Yai's readiness to rebound as a regional tourism centre.
