Economy & Politics Fertiliser shortage worries North Rift maize farmersAgriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett. FILE PHOTO | NMGFarmers in the North Rift region have decried acute shortage of fertiliser due to increased demand for the farm input for this planting season. They warned yesterday that the shortage of DAP fertiliser would interrupt this season’s planting programme. Agriculture secretary Willy Bett (above) said measures have been put in place to make the fertiliser available in NCPB stores countrywide and distribute farm inputs to farmers. Mr Bett said farmers who miss out on government subsidised fertiliser will have to pay the commercial prices to get the commodity.
