Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked internationally-acclaimed fencing champion Kavita Devi of Barak Valley to meet him in Guwahati on Thursday after she demanded a government job. Kavita, who hails from Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district in South Assam, has won gold medals for India in fencing in the recently concluded SAF Games. When Sonowal spoke to Kavita and enquired about her, the fencer asked him for a government job. Kavita, a Meitei Manipuri, won a gold medal for India in the SAF Games held in Nepal recently. Epee is the heaviest sword used in fencing and the other two disciplines in the combat sport are foil and sabre.
