Shortly after 3.40pm today a male and female police officer witnessed two teenagers armed with knives attempt to rob a grocery store in Westminster. The shopkeeper had managed to push the boys out of the store, where the officers attempted to detain them. As they challenged the suspected robbers the female officer was stabbed in the abdomen. “For this officer to be stabbed on duty is unacceptable but, fortunately, she does not appear to be seriously injured. This courage is typical of Met officers as they go about their duties.”He later added: "Fortunately, the officer was not seriously injured and has now been discharged from hospital."
