Female 'cut' still prevalent in Kenya

Female circumcision is prevalent in many parts of the country although the practice is outlawed in Kenya. In some parts of the country like Tharaka and Meru regions, uncircumcised girls willingly take themselves to traditional surgeon to be ‘cut’. Some girls are already nursing their circumcision wounds in secrecy. The ‘cut’ is a bridge as girls cross from childhood to adulthood. Thousands of girls will be circumcised this month and in December.
