Police, firefighters and paramedics from Zion responded about 9:32 p.m. Thursday, November 24, 2022 to report of a single vehicle crash into a tree and a pole near the Ace Hardware store, 2660 Sheridan Road in Zion. Upon arrival police, firefighters and paramedics discovered a single vehicle crash with a tree and a pole with severe damage, and two people trapped in severely damaged vehicle. The female passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital, according to Zion Police Department. Because of the severity of the crash, the Zion Police Department asked for assistance from the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) to lead the investigation. ComEd and Hometown Electric were also requested to the crash scene to address the property damage and begin repairs to equipment.
