Female Economists, in Survey, Cite Gender Discrimination


Female economists say they have been discriminated against and, in some cases, sexually assaulted by their colleagues, according to a new survey by the American Economic Association. About two-thirds of the more than 9,000 respondents said they believed their work hadn’t been taken as seriously as that of male colleagues, that they had been socially excluded at an event in the field and that they had been disrespected by economist colleagues.
