Fire and Emergency spokesman Mike Wanoa said a couple of North St houses were dangerously close to the burning garage, but firefighters have so far kept it from spreading. Firefighters battled a large blaze engulfing a Feilding garage for over an hour on Saturday night. The Feilding brigade were called to North St, between West and Lethbridge streets, after a garage caught fire at 8.30pm. Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman Mike Wanoa said the 20-metre by 10m garage was completely engulfed in flames, which were threatening to spread to a nearby house, when firefighters arrived. The Milson Fire Brigade had to be called in from Palmerston North to help the Feilding firefighters to keep the fierce blaze under control.
