Peter Harder, the Liberal government’s representative in the Senate, attended the World Economic Forum this week with Canada’s Small Business and Export Promotion Minister Mary Ng. While that summit took place in the port city of Dalian, Ng posted a photo of herself with Harder in Beijing on Tuesday. OTTAWA—A key government senator with experience in Canada-China relations travelled to Beijing this week amid the ongoing diplomatic feud between Ottawa and the Asian powerhouse. She said Harder has conducted “some government business” during the trip, including meeting entrepreneurs with Ng in the capital. In May, a delegation of MPs and senators visited several cities in China and also pushed for the Canadians’ release.
