Federal Attorney General to File Lawsuit Against 68 Suspects of Coup AttemptBy Staff ReporterNovember 13, 2019 (Ezega.com) -- The Federal Attorney General announced today that it is preparing to file charges this week against suspects of the June 22, 2019 coup attempt in allegedly orchestrated in Amhara regional state and Addis Ababa. Preparations have been made to file charges against 68 suspects (55 from Bahir Dar and 13 from Addis Ababa), Federal Attorney General Berhanu Tsegaye said in a joint briefing on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. According to the attorney general, the investigation team confirmed the late Ethiopian chief of staff Seare Mekonnon and retired general Gezai Abera were killed by Seare’s bodyguard Mesafint Tigabu. The Attorney General said senior army officers, including Captain Memar Getnet, Captain Tadesse Eshete, and Major Adugna Worku, who are currently under arrest, were involved in the coup attempt. Berhanu said 15 individuals were killed and 20 others injured in the coup attempt.
