Kedir had been living illegally in Saudi Arabia doing domestic works, to support her efforts to buy an apartment back in Ethiopia. Kedir is one of an estimated 70,000 undocumented Ethiopians that have returned home so far before the end of Saudi amnesty deadline on Aug. 24th. Another 60,000 undocumented Ethiopians have registered at Ethiopian diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia to return home. Ethiopia has one of the highest numbers of undocumented migrants in Saudi Arabia, with some estimates putting the figure at about 400,000.
