Fear of offending Beijing blamed for weak anti-virus measures


Pro-democracy lawmakers have lashed out at the government for what they call weak prevention efforts against the Wuhan virus and accused top officials of not implementing tougher steps out of fear of offending Beijing, RTHK reports. At a press conference, the opposition lawmakers said measures so far have not been effective as two infected people arriving in Hong Kong has shown. He noted that Health Secretary Sophia Chan Siu-chee said last night measures such as thermal imaging are effective.
