Fayemi’s apology belated, unacceptable, says Ekiti assembly

He said the apology by the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was an after thought, belated and unacceptable. He urged the people of the state to ignore the on the alleged wrong he committed when he was the governor of the state from 2010 to 2014. Fayemi, had while addressing Ekiti people shortly after he won the primaries apologised to Ekiti people on his shortcomings during his first tenure. He promised that he was coming back to right the wrongs. He said the Ekiti State legislature gave the former governor an ample opportunity to discharge, acquit and even apologise to the people, but he refused. He said: “Fayemi can’t continue to deceive the good people of Ekiti State. He had been advised long before now to tender his apology to the people, but he rebuffed the timely advice. “Now that he needs the peoples’ votes, he is apologising in a rather arrogant manner.According to him, he had more than enough time to apologise, when the lawmakers invited him to clear himself on alleged misappropriation of the state’s funds. He said the pain that Fayemi has caused the people is unprecedented, as he had committed the state to huge indebtedness, which would last till 2036.“We cannot accept his unrepentant wasteful style of governance that manifested in his expending a whooping N1billion on decorative flowers that were never planted.
