Father who fatally hit son for absconding school sentenced to serve year in jailAn angry father of 13 children who hit one of his sons to death for absconding school has been sentenced to serve one year in jail. David Kiptoo Malel, was accused that on October 3, 2019, he fatally hit his 14- year-old son on the head after the boy absconded classes and vanished from home. At around 6.30 a.m. the following day, the accused managed to find the deceased at a neighbor’s compound. He picked a stick and fatally hit the deceased on the head while scolding him and asking him why he was not going to school,” state prosecutor Ms. Susan Keli Kelly told the high court. In mitigation, the accused through his counsel told the court that he was remorseful and regretted the son’s death.
