Father, daughter killed in Lampang car crash

Police say Rongthep Ratanapipit, 58, was driving his daughter Latthawan Ratanapipit, 22, from Chiang Mai to Bangkok to apply for master degree, when he apparently dozed off behind the wheel. Police said the accident happened at 6.30am on the Lampang-Tak road in Ban Nong Bua Ban village in Tambon Lom Raed of Lampang's Thoen district. The car crashed into a tree in the shallow and dry ditch in the middle of the road. Police learned from documents in the car that Latthawan was a university student in Chiang Mai with good study record. She was heading to Bangkok to apply for the government's scholarship to study in a masters degree course.
