A FATHER and son who hacked off a teenage burglar’s finger after discovering him inside their residence have been cleared of all costs. William and Shaun Burr argued they acted in self defence after beating up the knife-wielding 17-year-old at their residence in King Nation, New Zealand. Having already stolen three automobiles from William, the teenager broke bail to return together with his girlfriend to aim to pinch one other car. His son Shaun then arrived on the scene, and Philip Morgan QC instructed jurors the pair determined to take motion on the teen was carrying a knife. He instructed the courtroom William had “good purpose” to consider the teenager was harmful, and that his actions have been “cheap given the circumstances”, reviews stuff.co.nz.
