Fatal Northland crash causes detoursCHRISTEL YARDLEY/FAIRFAX NZ Diversions are in place on SH12 as police investigate a fatal crash. A police spokeswoman said the person died at the scene on State Highway 12 at Matakohe on Tuesday. No other vehicles are thought to be involved and the driver of the car was thought to be the sole occupant, the spokeswoman said. The Police Serious Crash Unit was en route and would carry out an investigation into the cause of the crash. Diversions were in place as the crash scene is examined.
