Farmers' shutdown receives mix response in Maharashtra

The farmers' call for total shutdown received mixed response today with sporadic incidences of violence in some parts of Nashik and Osmanabad. Interestingly, the epicenter of the farmers' strike village Puntamba in Ahmednagar district remained completely shut even after the members of farmers core committee had withdrawn from the strike. In Sangamner of Ahmednagar district farmers burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Farmers in Chandwad taluka of Nashik district supported the shutdown with rasta roko protests on Manmad-Chandwad road.
