Photo: BSSRANGPUR, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - After completing harvest last week, farmershave produced 1,20,275 tonnes of mustard seeds in all five districts ofRangpur agricultural region during the 2025-2026 Rabi season. Market sources said that the prices of mustard seeds may go up to Taka 4,500per mound in the coming months across the region. Earlier, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) had set a recordtarget of producing 1,46,281 tonnes of mustard seeds from 90,568 hectares ofland for Rangpur region during the current 2025-2026 Rabi season. The government also distributed quality mustard seeds and fertilisers asspecial incentives among small and marginal farmers to cultivate mustard forexpanding cultivation to enhance production of the crop. They sowed mustard seeds after harvesting short duration Aman rice on thesame land to enhance crop intensity and reap more profits.
