Following the publication of farming sentiments surrounding bovine Tuberculosis (bTB), the ICMSA has said its findings were obvious. Deputy president of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA), Eamon Carroll, has said the latest research from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) has highlighted problems that “have been obvious for decades,” regarding the sentiments surrounding the bTB programme. “The only people in this new regime with fixed targets are the farmers, who are also the only ones who suffer financial loss. We think that the same degree of compliance and time-limited targets should have been applied to all stakeholders. As it is – and as usual – the farmers are carrying everyone else,” concluded Mr Carroll.
