Farm Boy: A fresh take on the grocery store

Farm Boy, a growing chain that began in Cornwall, Ont., just offers food, but the freshest possible. The first Farm Boy was opened in 1981 as a 300-square-foot produce-only store, run by Jean-Louis and Colette Bellemare. “Jean-Louis believed he’d out-execute the chains on the fresh,” says York, who joined Farm Boy in 2009. There were just eight Farm Boy stores at the time. In 2017, Farm Boy debuted a smaller urban concept in the Rideau Centre in Ottawa.
