Share:LAHORE - Dr Aamir Mahmud Ijaz, Professor of Thoracic Surgery at King Edward Medical University (KEMU), was given a graceful and well deserved farewell on his retirement on September 21, 2021. Dr Aamir, after completing his education and training from within the country and abroad, was appointed as the first ever Assistant Professor of Thoracic Surgery in Punjab. He was posted in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at King Edward Medical College where he established the first teaching unit in this discipline in Punjab as the Head of Department in 1995. He single handedly nurtured this specialty with limited resources and ensured flourishing of the department. He remained the head of the department for 26 years, till the day of his retirement.
