French MP Marion Le Pen, the niece of party leader Marine simply tweeted: "France 2016" with the hashtag "#SainteRita". The congregation of Saint Rita -- the patron saint of lost causes -- failed to raise the three million euros ($3.3 million) it would have needed to buy the church back. The far right National Front party were also furious.
