Formula One drivers are some of the world’s wealthiest and most well-known sports stars. As any of his 300,000 Instagram followers will have seen, Grosjean and his family are regulars at Disneyland Paris, the theme park complex on the outskirts of Paris. At Disneyland Paris, its flagship attraction, Space Mountain, is fittingly themed to a novel from one of France’s most well-known authors: Jules Verne. Other theme park operators have copied Disney’s model but none have done it as well. They have generated 6.2% of France’s tourism revenue and $7.5 billion (€7.1 billion) in taxes so although the Disneyland Paris story is still being written, it has already had a fairytale ending.
