Work by Ilya Repin torn in three places by man who become ‘overwhelmed’ after drinking in Moscow galleryOne of Russia’s most famous paintings, which depicts tsar Ivan the Terrible cradling his dying son, has been badly damaged after a man attacked it with a metal pole. Russian new agencies sited police sources saying he was a 37-year-old man from the city of Voronezh about 460km (286 miles) from Moscow. “I came to look at the painting,” the man told the police.
