more-inThree members of a Parbhani family, who were detained on Friday after they allegedly went to the Shivaji Park ground with the intention to commit suicide, were counselled till late on Friday and sent home. Inquiries revealed that they intended to commit suicide to protest the slow pace of investigation into the alleged custodial death of Akhilabegum’s husband, Shamsher, at the Nanalpeth police station in Parbhani. “They told us that other family members had also come to Mumbai with them and were waiting near Shiv Sena Bhavan. We sent teams and brought nine more members of the family to the police station,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Deshmukh, Dadar division. “As the family did not commit any offence, no case was registered,” Mr. Deshmukh said.
