Family rescued after tubing accident pushes them against fallen trees in West Kootenay river


Katelyn Olson, left, and her boyfriend first hit the fallen trees when floating along Kettle River. The fallen trees along the Kettle River are under provincial jurisdiction, says the City of Grand Forks. The City of Grand Forks told CBC that Kettle River — as well as the sweeper in it — falls within the provincial jurisdiction. Ministry of Forests wrote to CBC that it doesn't usually remove fallen trees from rivers and creeks. Meanwhile, Olson and her family are camping in Christina Lake, about 21 kilometres east of Grand Forks — except her sister.
