Police were first alerted to the incident on Robinsons Rd yesterday afternoon. The child received medical attention after being hit by the forklift yesterday, but died at the residential property in rural Prebbleton, just south of Christchurch. The New Zealand Herald understands the 4-year-old’s dad is a Lincoln volunteer firefighter, a brigade which had two units respond to the worksite incident. “We are providing support to the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Brigade including counselling and professional psychological support if required. They confirmed that a 4-year-old received medical attention but sadly died at the scene.
