The government has announced Tk2 lakh for each of the families that lost a member in the boiler explosion at a packaging factory in Tongi Saturday morning. At least 24 people have been killed and more than 50 people injured in the explosion. The explosion triggered a massive fire and led to the collapse of the three-storey factory building of Tampaco Foils Ltd in the BISIC industrial area in Gazipur on Saturday morning. What triggered the boiler explosion remains unclear. Officials say about 100 people were working at the factory when the explosion took place at 6:15am.
