Families of 737 Max crash victims push to reopen criminal case against Boeing

Federal prosecutors argue that the law doesn’t apply to them because they can’t prove that those who died in the 737 Max crashes are crime victims. The crashes led to a 20-month global grounding of the 737 Max fleet. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, with striking similarities to a 737 Max crash the previous October in Indonesia. That had a major financial toll on Fort Worth-based American Airlines and Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, two of the largest customers of the 737 Max. Forkner was the only individual to face criminal charges in the 737 Max case, and his lawyers painted him as a scapegoat for a multibillion-dollar aerospace manufacturer that pressured workers to push the 737 Max toward certification at all costs.
