This is largely due to the company's founder, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, according to several of those on hand for the launch. "Elon Musk is broadening the audience to people beyond people just interested in spaceflight." Falcon Heavy lifted off at 3:45pm EST. Whether viewing the launch from KSC or on the miles of beach from which it could be seen for free, the Falcon Heavy launch will be a day many remember.
