Englishman Chris Skelly, who left behind piles of debt in New Zealand, has been jailed for fraud in Australia. A British man faces deportation from Western Australia after being sentenced to a 3½-year jail term over a fraud involving almost A$530,000 (NZ$566,250). In 2012, Stuff reported how Skelly left behind piles of of debts and demolition materials in Christchurch after the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes. Skelly left New Zealand at the end of April 2012 to avoid being deported over disclosures made in his visa application. The company also left behind two demolition dumps, one in Cass St, Sydenham, and the other in Jones Rd, Rolleston.
