As Punjab prepares to vote, two infographics purporting to show exit polls conducted by India Today are being widely shared on social media. These alleged exit polls project a lead for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Amritsar and Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seats. While sharing the alleged Amritsar exit poll projections, a Facebook user wrote, “Great news BJP winner Amritsar exit poll, Check voting percentage.”Both infographics are fake. India Today has not released its exit poll yet. India Today’s exit polls also do not predict vote share for particular Lok Sabha seats.
