At one point, the newcomers even taped a letter to the Senate door addressed to the recalcitrant majority leader. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and other Republicans speak to reporters May 21. But McConnell has virtually ignored that proposal, approved by the House on a party-line vote almost three months ago. So far, Senate Republicans have stood behind McConnell’s strategy of ignoring the Democratic bills, even those like Sens. “If you do not plan to fulfill your responsibilities as Senate Majority Leader, perhaps it is time to step aside,” they wrote.
