Organizations using Workplace, such as Walmart, Heineken, Spotify, Lyft and Starbucks , have created more than 1 million groups on the platform. Workplace has been seeing growing adoption across all sizes of companies, according to Facebook, and is used in more than 70 languages. With features that resemble Facebook's main app, Workplace lets users quickly look up coworkers, post about their work, follow a feed of colleagues' updates, discuss projects in groups or watch a live video broadcast by a company executive. On Thursday, Facebook also debuted a “Workplace Chat” app, which can run on PC, Mac, Android or iOS, and will support text-based messaging as well as group video chat. Starting Thursday, organizations can start using Workplace via the Workplace Chat app or the original Workplace site and app.
