As part of the settlement, which was announced Tuesday, moderators will get a minimum of $1,000 each from Facebook with the potential for additional compensation if they have been diagnosed with mental health disorders, including PTSD. In the time since, there have been several reports about the the severe impact of content moderation on workers’ mental health. A spokesman for Facebook said the settlement represents part of the ongoing changes it is making regarding how moderators work. “We are grateful to the people who do this important work to make Facebook a safe environment for everyone,” he said.
