Facebook can't catch misinformation it's already identified as false, activist group says

The posts include false claims about President Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden as well as false information about mail-in voting and the coronavirus. The group found 738 instances of false posts that it said Facebook should have caught based on its earlier labeling of similar content. The group also found 119 Facebook pages that demonstrated a track record of spreading misinformation — at least three or more false posts during the research period. Other false claims that received similar treatment included debunked assertions about mail-in ballots and speculation that liberals were responsible for Trump's Covid-19 infection. Some of the false posts were shared hundreds — or thousands — of times and received as many likes, comments or reactions.
