More than 16,000 people in the UK alone flocked to Down Detector at around 7pm to note issues with Instagram. The problem did not seem to be confined to the UK, with users from continental Europe taking to Twitter to complain of the faulty service. One person wrote on Twitter: "When Instagram is down I feel a shiver of joy thinking about the millions of white women who don't! Another added: "Now that Instagram is down I guess we gotta actually focus on online school." The website seemed to be back online in parts of the UK as of 7.30pm.
