Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has previously said that political speech on Facebook should be largely left alone, even if it’s proven to be a lie or false. There are a few exceptions, such as if a politician advocates for violence—and now one of those exceptions involves discouraging voting. Separately, Facebook removed four nascent disinformation campaigns with links to Russia and Iran in an effort to ramp up enforcement actions from foreign countries ahead of the 2020 election.
