Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar has extended his contract with the Magpies for an extra year, taking his deal through to the end of the 2024/25 season. Newcastle confirmed the extension on Monday morning, less than 48 hours after Schar played a starring role in the 3-0 derby victory over rivals Sunderland. Speaking out after the announcement, the 32-year-old said: "I've said it a lot of times, but I feel really at home here. "I feel so comfortable living in Newcastle; I love the city and I love playing for the club and the incredible fans. Since I've come to the football club, he's been a model of consistency and a big part of our success," Howe said on Monday.
